Say Mama

I remember when EM was a wee one just starting to talk.  He loved to say "dada".  I was sit across from him with my little heart broken wondering why won't you say "mama"?  I'm the one who feeds you the good stuff.  I give you the best baths and keep you bottom nice and happy.  Not that daddy didn't contribute, but this was the argument in my head.  Tonight after my dear niece gave EM a bath and put EM in the bed, she reports that EM wanted to see me.  I'm like OK, let me finish the last few minutes of my movie and I'll go up there.  There was like 5 minutes, seriously left in the movie.  Then I hear, "Mommy, Mommy, mommy, mommy.  Mommy!  Mommy?  Mama!  Hey Babe!  mommy!  Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy...." {'Hey babe" is what daddy says to get mommy's attention.} My niece is like, I think he's calling you.  I'm like who taught that kid that I was mommy?  Ahhhhh, I did.  I drilled it into his curly little head, when he was going through that dada phase. Lo and behold, it stuck!  LOL  I pause my movie and head upstairs.  He smothers me with kisses, tells me good night and professes his love for his ol' mommy.  :)  Melts my heart!

Disco duck aka Babylove #2 is having a disco party in my belly.  He likes to hang out, curled into a "C" on my right side, where he kicks and pushes on my belly.  Every now and again, he'll do a little Riverdance that his Auntie D taught him.  I'm loving this.  I really miss that I didn't get to experience this with Babylove #1 aka EM.  But I'm so thankful that I get to experience it now and hope that he doesn't flip upside down and start his little Riverdance in my ribs.  Fingers crossed.

Week 26

I have passed the 100 day mark.  If I carry to term, I have less than 100 days to go.  A little over 3 months.  EEEKKK!  I'm getting ready!  Bring it on!

I was all set to talk about how blissful things are in Week 26.  No tiredness, back pain has subsided, and I'm feeling Babylove #2 moving all the time - nice sweet little movements.  As I was sitting down to write my post I had to go to the bathroom, OK - so I go, come back sit down, get all comfy and ready to write again.  Open my browse and well, I gotta go again.  Ya'll this went on four times within an hour (my lunch break)  Needless to say the post did not get written and my puppies and rainbows state of mind was dashed.  However, my puppies and rainbows state of mind is back. :)  I suffered from major back pain for the past two month.  I know it's BabyLove #2 tap dancing on my last sciatic nerve.  It's nice to have that pain gone for however long it's going to stay gone.  I'm thankful for what I can get.  I don't feel quite as fat as I've been feeling, I feel nicely pregnant. :)  Babylove #2 is also moving ... a lot. It's nice movement, no feet in the ribs or any of that nonsense.  With EM, I didn't get to feel much movement, so I'm thankful for the little tap dance routines that I get this time around.

EM is so full of questions these days.  He has never been a quiet child even before he could talk, he was chatterbox.  LOL.  But now it seems nonstop.  And I know it's going to continue and get more intense once he starts big boy school in September.  I have no talk zones (like in the car during "rush hour", but sometimes the questions just kind of bubble up out of him, like he can't help it.  Bless his little heart.  I've got some much needed help around here particularly with this fella.  I am so thankful for family that is stepping up to help out.  Seriously, you are saving my sanity.  Thank you!

EM is really into dessert these days. He wants dessert after every meal.  :)  The good news is that we've gotten him agreeable to dessert only at dinner time.  The even better news is that dessert doesn't have to be sweet.  Tonight, dessert was chicken (dinner was chicken, too.)  LOL

Here's what Babycenter.com says is going on this week in the belly:
The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take two to three days.

Finally some quiet time.  :)

Nursery in Progress

Mama at 24 weeks

The nursery is a work in progress, but we've got all the big pieces put together.  Here's the crib and part of the glider.

The changing table and an excersaucer

The glider with a bunch of junk in it.  :)

EM has been helping with the decorations.  Here is his wall sticker application.

Week 24

Time seems to be flying by.  Next thing I know we'll be a family of four!  Can I admit that I'm nervous?   I'm nervous about the birth.  I'm nervous about having an extra bean to physically handle.  However, I'm sure it will all be fine.  Right?

EM has been enjoying lots of daddy time.  LOTS of it.  My my heart happy to see the two of them enjoying each other.   He's getting to be a pro scooter rider.  I think the snappy new helmet we got him has given him an added does of confidence.  :)

Babylove#2 is seriously moving all of the place.  I think he's filming a remake of Saturday Night Fever or Kung Fu Panda.  The other night, daddy and I were talking before the Sandman attacked.  All of a sudden there was this little something - a foot? a butt bone? - sticking out and it wasn't moving.   I rubbed it and talked to it (the bump) and finally Babylove did a little dance and went to sleep.

We finally have all the nursery furniture put together.  Now to wash all the "stuff" and make a little more welcoming.  I'll post some pictures of our work in progress.  Our theme is furry little woodland creatures.  My mom thinks most of the creatures look a little scary.  I'm sure once kiddo gets a look a mommy after I've delivered him, or even the early morning version of mommy, he's not gonna be phased by the little squirrels and deer.

From BabyCenter:
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Pictures coming soon
